Foster’s latest “Silver Harbor” romance (following
Maybe We Will and
Maybe We Should, focused on the three de Messiéres sisters in New England) is the story of the middle sister, Boston lawyer Deirdra, who comes back home to Silver Island to recover from a work disappointment. There she finds more than she was looking for in Josiah “Jagger” Jones, a handsome chef who had been friends with the de Messiéres’ mother before her death. Both Deirdra and Jagger have to overcome elements from their past, but it is mostly Deirdra who needs to change her life to fit with Jagger’s more easygoing lifestyle. There are many characters in the novel, and readers who enjoy a large cast inserting themselves into the lives of the protagonists will find much to like here, though readers looking for a deep emotional connection might be disappointed by spending so much time away from the hero and heroine.
VERDICT Readers of the “Silver Harbor” series will enjoy this new addition, but there is little to excite those not already familiar with the titles.
