The world is changing, and the skills students need to succeed have changed as well. The film's short history of education shows that the organization of school curricula has not altered since 1890. Schools today must help students develop creativity, critical thinking, and collaboration skills in order to achieve. The focus here is on the work of students and teachers at High Tech High in San Diego. Students are given huge responsibility in their learning; class work is often interdisciplinary, with projects involving real-world applications. All of this has not come without questions from parents and the students themselves, worried about standardized tests and college admittance. The production realistically addresses the problem of educating students for a world that we cannot even conceive of right now, grounding itself in the history of education, the learning processes of today's students, statistical realities, and the difficulties of accepting change.
VERDICT Crucial shifts in education could result if creative, progressive school administrators, teachers, and parents view this film; highly recommended for all education collections.
