Homeschooling parent Williams (book reviews editor, Current; Cultural Christians in the Early Church) argues the low wages and paucity of programs for families can only be reckoned as a wholesale devaluation of mothers and children. She uses the history of the early church during the Greco-Roman period to demonstrate what she calls an anti-Christian, morally bankrupt truth behind movements such as feminism and the modern academic industrial complex. She goes after terms such as “tradwife,” “exvangelical,” and “MILF” but seemingly assumes that all readers already know their definitions. She urges readers to avoid judging a person’s worth by what they contribute economically to society. Women, her book shows, provide so much more than money.
VERDICT This book about the image of women and their perceived societal value is sure to spark much conversation and debate.
