The Cauley women have magic powers, traditionally inherited by the eldest daughter upon her mother’s 65th birthday. They must unite to keep the powerful demon, Legion, at bay and deal with their family legacy. This fully dramatized book with a rich soundscape, complete with music, sound effects, and voice enhancements, evokes a cinematic experience. Narrator Bahni Turpin’s excellent portrayal gives each character a distinct voice reflecting their individual strengths and vulnerabilities. She captures the family dynamics, including moments of comedy, grief, and irritation. The haunting voices of Legion and other evil beings further enhance the creepy atmosphere. Turpin’s remarkable skill creates the illusion of a full cast rather than a single narrator.
