River wants nothing to do with the guy who is responsible for her dropping out of college, but circumstances work against her when he offers her a business proposal the same week that she loses her job. However, what he wants is not just business but personal, and River will have to decide if the success of her beloved nail polish enterprise is worth getting into bed with someone she hates, and, once there, how far is she willing to go? Carew (Mastered by the Boss) tries to build a detailed story line but doesn't quite accomplish it. That is not to say that fans of nail polish and polishing techniques will not find this book stimulating, but others might skip over those facts to get to the steamy love scenes and the real story of whether River will forgive Kane for his betrayal.
VERDICT Some fans of erotica could find this on the softer side but might still enjoy the action when these characters finally "push boundaries" in the bedroom (which sadly does not happen until the end).
