This gorgeously colorful photobook explores the career of pop icon Pink. Starting with her debut album,
Can’t Take Me Home, award-winning journalist Zaleski (
Lady Gaga: Applause) grounds each chapter with album titles. Readers learn of Pink’s childhood and her start in music, her activism, and her family life as a daughter, wife, and mother. The winner of three Grammys, a Daytime Emmy, seven MTV Video Music Awards, and the 2021 Billboard Music Icon Award, Pink’s long and varied career is captured throughout. Interspersed with the easily digestible text are full-page images of Pink that capture some of the star’s most memorable on-stage moments, candid family shots, various collaborators, and well-known aerial and acrobatic performance stills from her live concerts. The research and quotes come from popular magazine articles and social media posts, so, at times, the text is repetitive, and there’s little that’s new. The final section is a full in-depth discography covering album tracks, release dates, labels, songwriting credits, production, and chart positions.
VERDICT Readers will love the images, and fans will enjoy the book. The information, however, is easily accessible online and even on Pink’s own social media posts.
