Quilter Thomas’s book includes 15 patterns that use a full spectrum of colors, the rainbow method alluded to in the title. There is a helpful introduction to color theory as the launching point. For quilting novices, the book also offers a great overview of the standard fabric bundles available for purchase, the best tools to use, and thread advice. Collectively, the 15 patterns represent a range of piecing and quilting techniques that give readers the opportunity to select what interests them. Each craft has a difficulty level, a list of the amounts and types of fabric required, layout and color instructions, and directions for assembling everything. The patterns also include either alternate color or fabric layout suggestions or sometimes both. One of its many highlights is that the book is fully illustrated, with plenty of tips.
VERDICT For quilters who love colors. The target audience is beginners, but this recommended title also contains detailed technique guidance for quilters interested in advancing to an intermediate level.
