Between anecdotes from his childhood and impressive career in which he produced sports entertainment and what he calls “nonfiction programming,” readers get to experience the conception and success of some of the longest-running unscripted series, such as American Ninja Warrior and Hell’s Kitchen. Smith’s genuine and down-to-earth tone makes this an optimistic and quick read. His ability to rise to the challenges that life presents is admirable. With humor and honesty, he leaves readers hopeful that no matter how easy it is to rest on laurels, it is important to continue to reach and unlock one’s full potential.
