An unconventional English guide by Jovin, who was a surprise hit four years ago when she set up a folding table on an NYC sidewalk and took grammar questions from all comers. Jovin’s Grammar Table has since taken to the road, completing a nationwide tour in summer 2022. Listeners will learn interesting grammar tidbits, but this is in no way a dry grammar manual. It is just as much an account of her travels and an invitation to be curious, never self-conscious, about grammar. Jovin’s fascination with language is equaled by her easygoing manner, even when confronted by ranting visitors or nonstandard linguistic structures. It was a good choice to have Jovin narrate the audiobook: she reads with such charm and personality, and no actor could capture the grammarian’s openness to every question, complaint, and argument brought to her table.
