Rich and Pretty

Sarah and Lauren, best friends since age 11, were inseparable through high school, college, and into their 20s. Now their lives are diverging. "Rich" Sarah is the daughter of a confidant to several presidents and a beautiful South American folk singer. She is engaged to be married and ready to settle into a traditional family life. "Pretty" Lauren, born to a middle-class family and living a more free-spirited life, works as an editor at a publishing company and enjoys her single lifestyle. The plot traces the months leading up to Sarah's wedding after she asks Lauren to serve as maid of honor. Alternating between the women's points of view, Alam provides intimate insight into each one's thoughts, feelings, and memories. Throughout their relationship, despite frustrations and misunderstandings, what holds true is that these two know each other better than anyone.
