Prince Garrett, rightful heir to the throne of Wildemar, was raised to be king, but when he is kidnapped and tortured for months, doubts surface regarding his ability to rule. The king begins to groom Kian, Garrett's seven-minutes-younger twin brother, for the task should Garrett not make a full mental and emotional recovery. Bored and frustrated with his newfound frivolous playboy lifestyle, Garrett is intrigued by Lola Barnes, a fiery American redhead and self-made CEO of a multi-million-dollar vintage clothing company. For the first time since Garrett's capture, he is not treated as if he is fragile, with Lola testing his boundaries of propriety and forcing him out of his comfort zone. When their first date becomes tabloid news, they both see the advantage of maintaining a relationship in the public eye; Garrett may convince his father and countrymen that he has recovered enough to be placed back in line for the throne, while Lola's business is booming with all of the publicity. It seems like a great idea, but will the pressure of expectations tear their blooming relationship apart?
VERDICT Garrett and Lola are both strong, well-developed characters, tempting readers to stay up far too late to finish Wolff's (Royal Pain) latest novel, emotionally charged and filled with white-hot intimacy.
