Julie believes she killed her best friend, Reba, ten years ago. But when someone from their past shows up demanding long-buried answers, the truth may be more shocking than her memories. Two narrators carry the reader through this twisting, turning thriller of young love, both innocent and dark. Jeanine Bartel is the primary narrator, and Liv Anderson voices selections from Reba's journal, which is presumed lost. While both readers can carry a Southern lilt, Bartel's voice actually sounds younger than that of Anderson, who is portraying a 17-year-old girl, to the detriment of the flow. Also, listeners should note that some of the minors engage in explicit and mature sexual behavior.
VERDICT For fans of thrillers.
