Rainer (a minister, podcaster, former CEO of LifeWay Christian Resources, and author of the Church Answers website) has created a guidebook hoping to inspire readers to become evangelists, witnesses to the love of God, and the saving grace of Jesus Christ. His message is simple, folksy, and full of engaging examples. The book feels directed toward an Evangelical audience but may be inspiring to Christians of all denominations. Drawing on his own experience as a minister, Rainer gives examples of how even ministers can struggle with the great commission to “
go and make disciples of all the nations.” What is powerful in his witness is the acknowledgement that successful evangelization isn’t about scholarship and study as much as it is about how we live our faith. Rainer opens a profoundly non-denominational door by reminding readers that the great commission literally says not go make disciples, but
as you are going—that, whether at work, school, or a store, one is always called to be a witness to the love of God.
VERDICT Recommended for seminary libraries and religion and spirituality collections.
