A snow-pocalypse fling turns into something more in indie author Snowe’s (
First Meet Foul) major-publisher debut. Fun and quirky Becca is a sorority house mom and neighbor to the quiet and reserved college football coach Harrison. They had an amazing date two years ago, but Harrison ghosted her afterwards. Becca has tried to avoid him ever since, but shortly before Christmas, a raging Midwestern blizzard knocks out the electricity and forces the two to shelter together at Harrison’s house, which has a fireplace. With only one mattress that fits near the fire, and the need to cuddle for warmth, the cold outside is no match for Becca and Harrison’s heat when they’re together. Awkward conversations soon turn to tender banter as their feelings for each other grow, and they find that they complement each other well. But they’ll have to figure out if these new feelings can outlast the storm.
VERDICT Snowe’s grumpy/sunshine pairing delves beyond stereotypes and offers up a sweet story of growth and understanding, interspersed with plenty of hot moments.
