Though it longed only to be immersed in solitude and sci-fi soap operas, a bot-for-hire gig connected the self-proclaimed Murderbot with a group of humans that it would inevitably, inexplicably begin to care for. Together, they fight alien organisms, corrupt humans, and evil corporations. With this seventh installment of her “Murderbot Diaries” series, Wells (Witch King) crafts another intricate, action-packed science fiction adventure. Narrator Kevin R. Free returns as the robot readers have come to love. His deadpan delivery is simultaneously robotic yet somehow relatable. Paired with Wells’s worldbuilding and witty dialogue, Free creates a dramatic and delightful listening experience.
