Shepherd (
A Dance To Save the Debutante) tells a classic tale of a rakish lord attempting to seduce a confident single woman, only to fall desperately in love with her. Lady Violet is seen as demure and proper, but after breaking through her tough exterior, Jake finds a woman who is witty, adventurous, and devoted to her independence. Surely this is the perfect woman to have a dalliance with?
VERDICT This is a steamier series than Shepherd’s previous books and is complemented by detailed characters and a strong understanding of trope pitfalls.
