Written as an homage to the late, great illustrator, this book includes snippets of nostalgia from his son Thomas as well as greatly esteemed designers, illustrators, and film producers. Spanning Peak's work from his humble beginnings at Wichita University to his famous work on posters for such Hollywood movies as Apocalypse Now, this book includes Peak's amazing illustrations in a visually stunning layout. There are multiple images per page, including personal photographs, as well as full-page spreads of some of Peak's highly regarded poster work. Because this volume showcases much of Peak's prolific career, it is an excellent resource in which to see the changes of his style of artwork and design, showing that he was not a follower but a pioneer who greatly influenced those around him at the time as well as illustrators today.
VERDICT A beautifully designed and excellent quick-reference guide to the history of illustration that is sure to prove beneficial to those interested in illustration, graphic design, advertising, and film.
