On the day her divorce is finalized, Daphne Brink attends a baseball game where she heckles one of the home team’s players, Chris Kepler. The moment goes viral when Chris cries after Daphne yells at him. In an attempt to make amends afterward, she DMs Chris, using the pen name Duckie, and she can’t believe it when he responds. Unfortunately, Daphne never actually apologizes to him in her message or admits that she’s the heckler from the game. She decides that her real identity is unimportant since what Chris needs is a friendly ear—at least in the beginning. As Chris and Daphne exchange messages, their situation becomes complicated, especially when Daphne accepts a temporary job with the baseball team, which brings them closer in real life. Things become difficult when Chris confesses to Duckie that he has feelings for her and wants to meet her in person. If Daphne reveals herself to be Duckie, she’s not sure if Chris will want to be with her or feel betrayed.
