The Beach House

After a chance meeting, 18-year-old overachiever and recent college graduate Leah Berkley is doggedly pursued by wealthy and distinguished lawyer Alan Kent, who is twice her age. Then an unplanned pregnancy leads Leah to agree to marry Alan, and she is never allowed to forget that she’s unworthy of her allowance into Alan’s stately Richmond, VA, family. For the next 30 years, Leah focuses on her twin sons and her career as an educator, looking the other way while Alan continues his womanizing ways. When a disagreement turns violent, Leah retreats back to Coates Island, NC, where she had spent some time the previous summer and developed close friendships with women in her book club. Her friend Kayana Johnson provides the safe haven Leah needs to recuperate. Soon, the attraction between Leah and Kayana’s brother Derrick becomes undeniable, but they’ll both need to be ready to move on.
