Quinn continues her “Sierra’s Web” series with book six, after Cold Case Sheriff. When nurse Haley Carmichael receives a mysterious note claiming her dead sister had a baby and he’s currently “in the wrong hands,” she knows there’s just one person she trusts enough to ask for help—her ex-husband Paul. An expert skip tracer who works for the Sierra’s Web group, Paul is reluctant to get involved in his ex’s family drama. But with an innocent baby in danger and his ex-wife’s life under threat, Paul knows resistance will be useless—he must defend them both at all costs. Even though the premise promises a high-octane read, the execution here is a bit lackluster.
