The latest work of pop fiction—first published in print in 2020—by Lloyd (co-author, with Emlyn Rees, of the “Jack & Amy” series). When 40-something Keira is diagnosed with breast cancer, she never expects to take up running. This new hobby helps her through her cancer journey with new friends and fellow patients. Keira handles her journey with courage and learns to care for herself and also what’s most important in life. Despite the heavy topic, the novel is delightful and lighthearted with the right amount of humor and heart. While a cancer diagnosis is the basis for Keira’s story, this book is really about the importance of friendships. The emphasis on found family and the importance of community is an unexpected joy to find in a book that could have easily been too cheesy or too heavy. However, manages to strike the perfect balance between the two. Narrator Danielle Cohen brings bubbly Keira and her quirky friends to life.
VERDICT A great addition for audiobook collections. Will appeal to those looking for an easy listen or road-trip entertainment.
