The Economists' Voice 2.0

This follow-up to The Economists' Voice (2011) offers 32 eminently readable essays on contemporary topics far from the usual subjects of economics literature. Edited by Edlin (law & economics, Univ. of California, Berkeley) and Stiglitz (economics, Columbia Univ.; The Price of Inequality: How Today's Divided Society Endangers Our Future), these essays come from the online quarterly The Economists' Voice, which aims to fill the economics publishing gap between formula-laden academic articles and simplified op-ed columns; its articles are accessible to general readers and cover timely subjects such as Occupy Wall Street, the Keystone pipeline, and universal broadband. This edition covers four broad topics: health-care reform, financial market regulatory reform, financial crises and bailouts, and innovations in policy and business. In keeping with the journal's mission, none of the articles contains difficult math; formulas are absent except for the last essay, about auctioning ball possession in NFL games.
