The Irish Goodbye

Since her father died, NYC street photographer Cordelia James has been in a deep well of grief. Ready for a drastic change, she heads to Inishmore, an island off the coast of Ireland for the summer. When she disembarks from the Inishmore ferry, a stranger bumps into her. Her camera falls, breaking the lens and Cordelia’s heart—the camera had been her father’s. Meanwhile, Niall O’Connor is returning home to Inishmore after having his dreams destroyed by his cheating fiancée. He doesn’t want to be there, but he has nowhere else to go. As he walks through a crowded market, a rude tourist stops short, and he stumbles into her. Then she yells at him for breaking her camera, which only adds fuel to Niall’s anger at his situation. Cordelia and Niall, despite being strangers, have become instant enemies, and each encounter only adds to their mutual hatred. But the island is tiny, and their forced proximity begins to turn fiery anger into flaming passion. This steamy romance has realistic, well-developed protagonists and delightfully quirky secondary characters, while the plot and storylines within the framework make the novel compulsively readable.
