The Maps They Gave Us: One Marriage, Reimagined

Psychotherapist Scott lays out an unflinching portrait of how he and his wife navigated the failure of their traditional marriage and found love again on an unconventional path. Scott describes himself as a bisexual man in love with a woman whom he married and raised three children with. Their marriage crumbled when his wife discovered his attempts to seek out men for hook-ups and demanded a divorce. Living alone and without a vocabulary for his situation, Scott sought to understand who he really is and how to fit his feelings into societal and cultural understandings of masculinity and marriage. He and his wife met with a marriage counselor, who challenged them to find what brought them together in the first place and then determine what they want the next phase of their relationship to be. They accepted the challenge and explored how to be together and with others cohesively.
