Patterson (www.jamespatterson.com) partners for the first time with Swedish mystery novelist Marklund (The Bomber) to present a stand-alone thriller featuring NYPD detective Jacob Kanon and Swedish journalist Dessie Larsson, on the hunt for a pair of serial killers responsible for the murder of Kanon's daughter and her fiancé. The villains are depicted as unstoppable psychopaths who take pleasure in taunting their pursuers while spending a seemingly endless supply of money. Narrators Katherine Kellgren, Erik Singer, and Reg Rogers split among them the voices and thoughts of Larsson, Kanon, and the killers. Though all perform capably, it is at times difficult to distinguish among them. Recommended only for die-hard Patterson fans.
