Morgan (psychology, Texas Tech Univ.), along with 500-plus contributors from the United States, UK, Canada, and Australia, provides a broad overview of criminal psychology in this four-volume encyclopedia. Signed, alphabetically-arranged entries explore types of crimes (hate crimes, theft), addiction, social issues that impact crime (homelessness, mental illness) policing, crime prevention, and criminal risk assessment. A topical guide offers additional access, with all entries fitting within one or more of 13 categories ranging from biases in crime policies and prevention to criminal justice legal processes. While the majority of the contributors are academics, a few work in private industry or private practice. A detailed index facilitates access to related articles beyond the readers guide and the see also references. The Resource Guide bibliography (in Vol. 4) offers a wealth of seminal and current works in print and electronic format.
