The Sight

Faith Harrington, whose family runs a traveling circus, has long had a gift she never wanted—the ability to see how people will die. After tragedy strikes the family, Faith manages to control her power, but then a run-in with an unruly circus patron causes her to lose control, and she predicts the man’s death in front of the crowd. The incident leads to Faith’s dismissal from the circus. Desperate to provide for herself and her dying mother, Faith turns to telling fortunes. This pursuit provides a means of support, but it is a dangerous path that could destroy everything she holds dear. Golding’s (Little Darlings) new novel is a quick and thrilling listen. Narrator Ella Lynch gives voice to Faith as she navigates a world in which she is ostracized, through no fault of her own, and confronts events beyond her control. Though Faith is sometimes unwilling to see the danger, listeners will likely sympathize with her plight.
