Dove Barkley works as a cybersecurity analyst, a job that is anything but sexy. Tired of always being second best, she decides to borrow her sister’s confidence and clothes for an evening, unaware that the same sister is actually a rogue CIA agent. A case of mistaken identity lands Dove in the middle of an assassination plot, left with only her hacking expertise (and a sexy CIA sidekick) to help keep herself alive and prove her sister’s innocence. YA author Smith’s (How To Speak Boy) adult debut is a funny, fast-paced contemporary rom-com that rivals any action film. The heat level is mostly flirtatious, but the characters’ chemistry shines without physicality. Narrator Jaime Lamchick gives an engaging performance of the first-person narrative, convincingly portraying Dove as she blooms from quirky to confident.
