Score’s follow-up to
Things We Never Got Over features the other Morgan brother Nash, Chief of Police of Knockemout, as he navigates life after the shooting that nearly killed him in the Hugo case. That case turned him into a brooding man with panic attacks and nightmares, but he still has the good looks and sex appeal of the current Sexiest Man Alive. Naturally though, he is not in the market for love, but his gorgeous new neighbor Lina makes him do a double take. He tries to ignore his feelings every time he interacts with her. But when their jobs collide and they make the decision to work together to get to the bottom of the Hugo case, all bets go out the window, putting not only their lives but also love on the line. The story unfolds in alternating points of view between Nash and Lina; however, if readers are expecting the spice of Score’s preceding novel, they’ll have to be patient in this slow-burn romance.
VERDICT Score fans will be pleased, and making the duo into a trilogy doesn’t seem out of the realm of possibility.
