Mighty Spice Express) has traveled extensively throughout Turkey, his father's homeland. His third cookbook opens with an overview of the country's regions and a guide to essential ingredients. Recipes such as baked eggs with spinach, grilled squid with smoked eggplant, pomegranate beef skewers, and semolina lemon cake are gathered into chapters for breakfasts, meze, kebabs, salads, and other courses. There is an abundance of information about Turkish food culture, as well as stunning food and travel photography.
VERDICT Gregory-Smith has an engaging style and a passion for his subject. Though he's not yet well-known in the United States, his latest will excite readers who can't get enough of contemporary Middle Eastern cookbooks.
