Asse, known for helping an obese woman lose weight in his first film, Unsupersize Me, chooses five ordinary people from his home town of Gainesville, FL, and puts them on his plant-based diet and heavy exercise program for six weeks. The program does seem to work for weight loss and improving overall heath. Yet production values are lacking. The dialog is often hard to hear, as if the subjects are on speakerphone. The people are taught cooking skills and how to eat healthy meals in a restaurant setting. The exercises are sometimes too strenuous for those just beginning a healthy regimen. Asse's personal story of his seven years in federal prison is diverting but distracting.
VERDICT Interesting but of limited appeal.
