Best-selling rom-com author Quinn (
A Not So Meet Cute) offers a contemporary, romantic story set in Santorini, Greece, where 30-year-old Tessa, her twin sister Roxane, and their two best friends have come to celebrate before Roxane’s wedding. The vacation quickly turns into a series of absurd setups, pranks, and spats when Roxane decides to spend the trip finding Tessa’s true love. Tessa finds solace in Myles, an attractive Greek man who has been her secret crush since childhood. As Tessa helps Myles navigate his own family problems, their past feelings evolve into something new. Narrator CJ Bloom brings Quinn’s characters to life using different pitches to distinguish the diverse women characters; narrator Lee Samuels uses a sexy voice for Myles while also portraying Myles’s father with a stern Greek accent. Quinn’s descriptive writing pulls the reader in with references to the Aegean Sea, the blue and white buildings, and the Greek culture.
VERDICT Although this tale is sexy and fun, the constant clashing among the women occasionally wears thin. Even so, this refreshing vacation read should appeal to fans of Jenn McKinlay, Sophie Kinsella, and Emily Henry.
