This book is part of a series that consistently provides a good introduction to philosophical subjects from a Christian perspective. Its target audience is college students who have little or no background in philosophy. Inman (philosophy, Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary; Christian Philosophy as a Way of Life) writes clearly and utilizes illustrations effectively to show that the love of knowledge is a gift from God. He urges believers to explore secular topics from a Christian worldview. Chapters cover such subjects as metaphysics, human existence, ontological categories, and essence and modality. One challenge is that metaphysics is a rather complex subject, and in examining it, one must engage with ideas from sophisticated thinkers such as Aristotle, Immanuel Kant, David Hume, Alvin Plantinga, and William Lane Craig.
VERDICT Students with some background in philosophy might find this book more accessible. Readers interested in metaphysics will also appreciate it.
