This guidebook will have even a beer lover flipping through the pages. The beautiful, romantic photographs of vineyards and wine deserve to be seen. The locations described are diverse and far flung, from California and New York to Turkey, Australia, and, of course, France, so they are places anyone would dream of visiting. Most Americans, unless you live in California or New York, would find these "weekend" trips unattainable in two to three days, but the maps, concise descriptions of vineyards arranged by country and then region, and basic information related to local lodgings and restaurants read like the average weekender guidebook and will make readers want to plan a trip. While the information on any one vineyard is limited, there is enough for each region, including plenty of websites, to send readers to the Internet to round out their research.
VERDICT Wine lovers will enjoy the photographs and lists of vineyards to investigate, and anyone traveling to the areas covered who enjoys a glass of vino might find this a welcome, if oversize, addition to their travel bookshelf.
