Cato continues to develop the world that first enchanted readers in
The Clockwork Dagger in her latest novella. Tamaria Rivka Stout feels like an outsider, even if she is staying with her famous grandmother, the successful author and socialite Mrs. Stout. While series readers will appreciate seeing familiar faces, this novella stands mostly alone and can serve as a good entry point for teen readers. Rivka's less-than-ladylike interests in mechanicals and her compassion for gremlins make her story compelling.
VERDICT More experienced readers may be disappointed by the lack of new developments and characters, but this should keep series readers content until Cato's next full-length novel.
