In The Mimicking of Known Successes (Tor.com), Malka Older brilliantly transports a gaslamp Holmesian mystery to a refugee Earth colony on the rings of Jupiter, where investigator Mossa enlists scholar Pleiti’s help on a case. As they nibble on scones and search for clues, the women are also drawn to each other. Wonderfully atmospheric, wryly funny, and deeply cozy, this novella is a delight.
