Romances and wishes, what could be more ideal?
Several romantic stories revolving around wishes are on the horizon. What happens when you get exactly what you want? That’s the predicament the heroine of This Spells Love (Dial) by Kate Robb is in when she does a spell to make her forget her ex. In The Takeover (St. Martin’s Griffin) by Cara Tanamachi, a woman asks the universe for her soulmate, with unexpected consequences. Sophie Cousens’s The Good Part (Putnam) sends up a wish to skip ahead in her life and get to the part where she’s married, well-employed, and solvent. Destiny plays a part in Lauren Kung Jessen’s Red String Theory (Forever) when an artist who believes in the Chinese legend that everyone is tied to their one true love by the red string of fate has one magical date with a perfect man who doesn’t believe in fate or signs. Other noteworthy additions include The Second Chance Year (Forever) by Melissa Wiesner and Begin Again by Helly Acton (Avon), both of which give protagonists a supernatural second chance to change their lives.
