No More Neutral

Angela Hursh’s passion for helping libraries promote their programs and services is unrivaled, and her blog, superlibrarymarketing.com, is an invaluable resource for libraries around the world. Since the blog’s launch in 2015, she’s published 425 articles and videos, which have been viewed more than 426,000 times. As manager of engagement and marketing for NoveList, Hursh lately has been using her skills and hands-on experience to help libraries uphold their First Amendment rights by fighting book bans.

Additionally, Hursh writes and coproduces an extensive library marketing, advocacy, and collection curriculum for the Learn with NoveList online professional development platform, which she codeveloped. Through these marketing-specific courses, she has worked with hundreds of people, teaching them how to set marketing goals, create promotions that reach those goals, and measure their efforts.

The library was an integral part of her childhood, and Hursh says she is driven by the desire to tackle the increasing number of threats faced by libraries and the world of books in general. This was the impetus behind the in-person presentation “No More Neutral: How to Use Marketing to Position Your Library in Challenging Times.” As Angela puts it, “When a library has marketing success, it makes the organization stronger, and when one library is made stronger, it makes the entire library world stronger. That’s what drives me to do the work I do every day.”
