Book News: Gaiman's Stardust a Box Office Black Hole

By Michael Rogers

Graphic novel god Neil Gaiman can stop worrying about becoming too famous thanks to his works being morphed into movies. Stardust, the first Gaiman-based film, tanked at the ticket booth its opening weekend, getting trounced by the rehashed chop sokey buddy comedy Rush Hour 3. Despite near positive reviews across the board, the film only managed to take fourth place in the box office battle with a $9 million haul, not even besting The Bourne Ultimatum ($33.7 million) and The Simpsons Movie ($11.1 million), both of which already have been playing several weeks.
