Brodart Co. founder and CEO Arthur Brody retired effective August 30, although it wasn't announced publicly until September 14. He is succeeded by Joe Largan, the company's president and chief operating officer, who now also assumes the office of chair of the board. Brody had been the company's CEO since founding the operation in 1939. In making his plans public, Brody told his staff that he sincerely appreciates 'everyone who has helped Brodart grow from a one-person operation to a national company serving libraries. I feel certain that under Joe's leadership the company will continue to succeed and grow.' The company has expanded from a small operation to one of the leading names in the outfitting of libraries, with everything from shelving to automation wares through its three divisions: Books & Automation, Furniture, and Library Supplies & Furnishings. The company has offices in both the United States and Canada.
