But after learning that Sam Pulsifer really did accidentally burn down Emily Dickinson’s homestead, the reader is hooked. This is Clarke’s fourth book and has circulated well in our library to readers looking for a well-written yet comedic tale. French, Tana. In the Woods. Viking. ISBN 978-0-670-03860-2. $24.95. This was the best mystery I’ve read in a long time and had me guessing until the very last page. The main detective of the murder case was a victim of crime 20 years ago and now the two crimes are intertwined—talk about conflict of interest!
