Fast Five with Suzanne Toren

Getting to know narrator Suzanne Toren
Suzanne-TorenWhat's your favorite type of character/accent to narrate? Accent: French, eastern European. Character: a mischievous one, a snob, or a preacher (southern Baptist, Methodist) [who's] sermonizing. Lots of fun to preach fire and brimstone! Do you have any superstitions? No whistling in the theater/dressing room. Throw salt over your left shoulder (=good luck) if you knock over the shaker (=bad luck). Avoid walking under a ladder (hard to do in New York, where there is constant construction!). But I never avoid a black cat—I love cats of any color! What was your favorite non-audiobook gig? I do lots of staged readings in English, and in Yiddish. Also full-length plays. Every time, the one I am currently in is the one I love best. What was the first audiobook you narrated? I forget the title, but it took place in a Swiss chalet/boarding house, I think..it's a long time ago! How many audiobooks have you narrated? Around 1000. Really. As I said, it’s [been] a long time…
