Book News: Memphis/Wayne PLs Win RWA's® 'Libraries Love Romance'; Contest

By Michael Rogers

The Memphis Public Library and the Wayne Public Library, NJ, have won the Romance Writers of America’s (RWA®) first “Libraries Love Romance” contest. The competition featured two divisions: the first for the best programs and events featuring romance fiction and the second for the best romance fiction displays and promotions. Entries were submitted by PLs with winners chosen by RWA® members. Memphis took the $500 Division 1 prize for its support via its Book Club Conference and Book Talk Radio program, both of which often have a romance focus. Wayne snagged the Division 2 purse for its “continued, overwhelming focus on its romance fiction collection and romance authors through displays and promotions.” Wayne’s’s staff also showcase titles by local romance authors through exhibits and “Read Locally” pamphlets.
