One NYU Library Victim Was Not A Suicide

By LJ Staff

The New York City medical examiner's office has ruled that a New York University (NYU) student who jumped to his death in NYU's Elmer Holmes Bobst Library was under the effect of marijuana and psilocybin, a psychedelic drug found in mushrooms. The examiner therefore ruled that the death of the student, Stephen Bohler, on Oct. 10 was an accident, not a suicide. Bohler was the second NYU student to leap to his death in the Bobst library this semester, shocking the NYU community and leading the university to institute new security measures. The medical examiner ruled that John D. Skolnik, who leapt from the 10th floor on Sept. 12, was a suicide. NYU has since installed barriers on the fourth through the 12th floors.
