In an effort to benefit the Massachusetts Library Association (MLA) while showcasing the diverse men and women who promote library services to the state’s teens and children, the Youth Services Section of the MLA will soon begin selling the “Tattooed Youth Librarian Calendar.” To produce the calendar, sixteen models from libraries throughout the state participated in a September 16 photo shoot, produced by a local photographer on a volunteer basis.

here, on MLA's website. To produce the calendar, sixteen models from libraries throughout the state participated in a September 16 photo shoot, produced by a local photographer on a volunteer basis. Sales of the calendar will benefit the MLA, which supports Massachusetts libraries and librarians with awareness campaigns, legislative advocacy, and professional development opportunities, including an annual spring conference. “During a down economy, city and town services are stretched thin but people depend even more on the free services available at their local libraries,” the release notes. “The Massachusetts Library Association helps immeasurably in making libraries visible to our government to help maintain and increase programs and services to patrons all over the state.” The Tattooed Youth Librarian Calendar project was organized by Sharon Colvin, Noelle Boc, Erin Daly and Jessica LaMarre, librarians from Chelmsford, Tewksbury, Chicopee and Pembroke, MA, respectively.
