The Great Marketing Work at Edmonton Public Library

Those of you who had the privilege of hearing Tina Thomas at the LJ Directors Summit were blown away by what she is doing.  Through thoughtful marketing principles she and epl went through a robust rebranding process that transformed and revitalized their library. Everyone at the summit found their work startlingly fresh. I've attached her deck here, but it doesn't do justice to her presentation. We're working on getting her to narrate the deck. But for those of you who were there, here it is. Probably what generated the most reaction is this simple statement of their mission: We Share! Gotta love that.

Hi Alison and Gwyn We did use a consultant for our rebranding - local designer Donovan Creative. They were instrumental in helping us define our values and then developing the creative to communciate that to our audiences. We couldn't have done it without them.

Do you know if they did this all in-house or if they had a marketing firm help? I love what they've done, and judging from the materials they have before, I'm wondering what steps they took to make this switch seamless. It's really almost like a change in idiology. Thanks for letting me know if you can find out!

I believe they did, but I'm not entirely sure. I'll check with Tina and get back with you. Thanks for asking.
