The authors have thought carefully about using archival photos accurately and sensitively, as they discuss in detail. The title succeeds at portraying the movement for LGBT rights as one that persevered and disagreed but also flourished and achieved victories for civil and human rights. Overall, this title does a fine job of documenting the unique experiences of people of color within the LGBT community. Similarly, it conveys how working-class LGBT people expressed themselves politically. As there's so much focus on activism, the unguarded photos of social life, relaxation, and enjoyment particularly stand out.
