What a Doll!

By Walter Minkel

Move over, Barbie. A 5 ¼-inch-high plastic librarian action figure--with glasses, a practical haircut, sensible shoes, and a raised finger ready to shush--is making its debut. The new doll is modeled after a real librarian, Nancy Pearl, the director of the Washington Center of the Book at the Seattle Public Library. The doll is available online from Accoutrements (www.accoutrements.com) for $8.95 and will appear in stores this fall.

For future surveys, would you consider publishing the region, primary job assignment, and organization data as you have in past surveys? These are such helpful tools in advocating for in-scale wages for newer librarians!

Is the salary data for all regions available?
