Woman Stabbed in Denver Library

By LJ Staff

A homeless man stabbed a 22-year-old woman browsing in the children's section of the Denver Public Library's central facility on January 15. After Tommy Lee Young stabbed Bea Ibberson, witnesses chased him out of the library, but he escaped after brandishing a knife. Young was later arrested at a homeless shelter. Ibberson was wounded in her face, neck, chest and arms, and was expected to be in the hospital overnight. She and Young didn't know each other, and police say they didn't have a motive. Young had been arrested twice for sexual assault. The children's section was closed for the day.
