Beyond Copeland's challenges and triumphs, talent and doubts, a universal tale of individualism vs. assimilation that transcends race, gender, and avocation is mined brilliantly. There is just enough ballet history and background to inform and engage the casual viewer. The cinematography is stunning in Blu-ray and illuminates the 33-year-old Copeland's abilities in an almost surreal manner.
VERDICT An emotional and exciting portrait of evolutionary creativity: the success of one is a success for us all.
